Thamesmead Town 0 Tilbury 1 (Att 112)

A single Eli Beniot goal for Tilbury at Bayliss Avenue on Tuesday night was enough as the Dockers took the points.

Tilbury after a disappointing weekend, bounced back well and had keeper Lee Butcher to thank for the points, after Beniot headed the visitors into the lead shortly before half time. Butcher not only magnificently turned aside Paul Vines’ late penalty, he also made fine saves from Adrian Stone and Steve Springett late on to secure the points.

Manager Gary Henty, made no less than 6 changes to his line up and provided a good performance.

On 16 Emiel Aiken saw his effort save, before 4 minutes later Tom Anderson seeing his bullet shot striking the top of the cross bar. Thamesmead had there own chances with some good breakaways. Tilbury had the best chance of the half on 32 when Wale Odedoyin was played in and saw keeper Tyler McCarthy made a fine save. Odedoyin went close, before Tilbury did take the lead on 39 when a Tom Anderson corner was met by Eli Beniot who rose to head into the net.

Within seconds of the second half starting, Tilbury had the ball in the net, but was ruled out for offside. On 49 Paul Vines saw his header well saved by Lee Butcher. The next three efforts all fell to Odedoyin who was denied by good blocks.

Emiel Aiken then had two good chances. Substitute Adrian Stone went close for the home side, but again Butcher came to the rescue with a good save. With just 2 minutes to go, Ellis Green ran from midfield towards the penalty box and saw him upended. Vines saw his penalty kick well saved by Butcher and away to safety.

Thamesmead pushed hard in the final minutes, but were denied by some fine keeping.

Manager Gary Henty commented after the game " I am pleased with the result. I asked the boys for a reaction performance and I got it, so pleased for the lads"

Tilbury look to keep there form, with a short trip to Romford on Saturday.
