Thamesmead Town 2 Tilbury 1 (Att 56)

Tilbury lost out a last minute goal on a blustery and cold afternoon. Tilbury went into the game on the back of 2 recent wins against sides in the top 5 and made 2 changes with Harry Cook and Ryan Flack missing, but were replaced by Matt Game and Rimmel Daniel.
It took both sides a while to deal with the difficult conditions, but once the game settled down Tilbury's Daniel volleyed just over. On 22 the home side took the lead when Proberts free kick from the left found George Benner who headed powerfully home. Tilbury had a great chance on 27 when Rimmel Daniel hit an effort from the edge of the area that bounced off the bar and fell to Tony Martin who hit just wide. Seconds later it was Thamesmead's turn to hit the woodwork when Carter hit the post after being played through. Just before the break an Aiken cross found Wood who saw his effort bounce off the woodwork. On half time Derek Duncan hit a 20 yard effort just wide.
Tilbury started the half strongly and a Carlile free kick found Wood who hit against the post and away to safety. After some pressure Tilbury were rewarded with 4 minutes to go when substitute Jack West picked up a long punt and with the keeper not collecting, slotted into an empty net.
Tilbury kept pushing and with 2 minutes to go Babalola from the left crossed and with the wind blowing towards the goal, the home keeper Budd had to tip over. Deep into injury time Thamesmead broke and a long punt down field was not dealt with, and with the ball bouncing around the edge of the box, the ball fell to the feet of substitute Leslie Thompson who rolled the ball home.

The result sees Tilbury drop one place to 17th.

After the game Manager Gary Henty said "I felt we were a little unlucky after the chances we had, but the work rate and attitude was first class"

Tilbury are back in action on Tuesday, when they make a trip to Ware 7.45pm kick off.

Team:- Giddens, Webb, J Cook, Johnson, Smith, Game, Aiken, Carlile, Martin (J West 81), Wood (Richmond 73) and Daniel (Babalola 66)
