Halstead Town 1 Tilbury 4 (Att 76)

Tilbury made smooth progress in this years Essex Senior Cup with a comfortable victory over Thurlow Nunn side Halstead Town. The result sees Tiilbury make it 12 undefeated. The game also saw the first appearance together in a senior game for Conor and Regan Mead and full debuts for Ross Elsom and Lewis Jaggs. Manager Gary Henty made a number of changes to his side, but it did not stop Tilbury starting strongly and playing some good flowing football.

After just 8 minutes Tilbury took the lead when Andy Edmunds got down the right and crossed for Ross Elsom to slot home. Seconds later Edmunds had his own chance when he fired just over from a Kurt Smith cross. On 25 the Dockers increased the lead when Conor Mead crossed for Elsom to again score at the back post. Within 2 minutes Ross Elsom grabbed his hatrick when Edmunds played the ball to him outside the box and he unleashed a low effort into the bottom corner of the net. Halstead tried to get themselves back in the game, but were denied by some good defending. On 58 Tilbury put the tie out of sight when Edmunds again became the provider crossing for Neil Richmond to head low into the net. On the hour Halstead pulled a goal back when Holdstock hit his low free kick past Bogard for a consolation goal.

The Dockers were able to make some late substitutions as they strolled to victory.

After the game Manager Gary Henty commented “Delighted with the performance last night especially with 5 players involved who were 18 years old. It's pleasing when you make changes to the side and the performance levels remain high. We have a strong squad with competition for places throughout the team."

The result sees Tilbury move into the 4th round where they will entertain Braintree Town for the second successive season. The Dockers return to cup action on Saturday, when they welcome Royston Town in the FA Trophy.

Team: Bogard, C Mead, J Cook, Nightingill, Pooley (Glozier 46), Austin (Martin 74), Edmunds, Elsom, Richmond, Jaggs, K Smith (R Mead 70)
