Coggeshall Town 1 Tilbury 1 (Att 149)

Tilbury picked up a well deserved point at high flying Coggeshall Town on a warm afternoon in north Essex. Manager Joe Keith gave debuts to Rhys Madden, Ryan Boswell and substitute Reuben Mudd from Colchester's Academy.

Tilbury took it to there opponents early in the game. On 9 minutes Madden forced a good save from a fine Hubble effort. It was a tight game with little goal mouth action.

Tilbury started the second period well with Abdul Salami heading towards goal, but denied by a good Bransgrove save. Minutes later Siju Odelusi then rattled the cross bar, as his looping header drifted towards the far post, with only the frame of the goal saving Coggeshall. The home side counter attacked and saw another good Madden save from Gyasi. On 58 Tilbury should have taken the lead when they saw a goalmouth scramble was not finished by Paxman. A minute later Lewis Smith was denied by a fine diving save. .

After 65 minutes, the home side finally opened the scoring when a Hubble rasping shot was saved by Madden, but Hubble then followed up to score. On 71 Albie Keith saw his effort go wide, before finding the net with 10 minutes remaining, but was denied by the offside flag. Harry Norman had to be at his best to clear Coyle's effort off the line. It was then the home side who had to clear off the line when a Lewis Smith directed shot on target, but Hubble cleared. Tilbury pushed hard and were rewarded with two minutes remaining when a Tom Anderson saw his header go on target, only for George Cocklin to parry the ball over the bar with his hand and saw the red card from the referee. Lewis Smith stepped up to tuck the kick away.

In the dying seconds Ross Wall almost took the points, but hit his effort wide.

The result sees Tilbury remain in 19th and hopefully sees Tilbury kick start the season.

Tilbury are back in action on Tuesday night when they welcome Marlow in the rearranged Velocity Cup match.
