Hertford Town 5 Tilbury 3 (Att 181)
Tilbury's FA Cup campaign fell at the first hurdle going down 5-3 in Hertford and finishing the game with 10 men.
Hertford started the stronger and went in front after just 2 minutes, when Tommy Wade was upended in the box by Ashlee Jones and the referee pointed to the spot, with Jones receiving a yellow card. David Keeneyside slotted home. Ben Ward-Cochraine then went close. On 14 Tilbury pulled a goal back when a corner from Jack Carlile was met by Tom Anderson who struck into the net. Hertford's keeper Charlie Mann who had an outstanding game, saved well at Lewis Smith's feet shortly after. On 26 a cross from the left was met by Ward-Cochrane to put the home side back in front. Tilbury took just 4 minutes to be back on level terms. After Albie Keith who was caught by a very dangerous challenge and just a chat with the culprit, saw Jack Carlile glide his free-kick to Hussain Jaffa to rise and head home. Mann again saved a good Lewis Smith effort before the break, before the home side went into the break 3-2 when Ward-Cochrane beat the offside trap to slot home.
Tilbury came out after he break, all guns blazing and equalised again for the third time when a bullet effort from Adam Vyse was blocked, before the ball fell to Lewis Smith to smash home. With Tilbury on the front foot, Tom Anderson was the next player to be denied by a fine Mann save twice in 3 minutes, before Jones denied Ward-Cochrane a hat-trick
On 65 Tilbury saw there afternoon and progression go up in flames, when Ashlee Jones was given a 2nd yellow card to delaying the game and Tom Anderson went between the sticks. Hertford took the opportunity to attack and within 3 minutes saw Tommy Wade head home. On 71 a long range George Bettie effort beat the Anderson drive to make it 5-3. Tilbury's only effort late in the game was Lewis Smith denied by another quote brilliant save by man of the match Charlie Mann.
Tilbury travel to Romford on Tuesday night in the league.
