Tilbury 4 Cheshunt 3
Tilbury scored in the final minute to come from 3-1 down to take the points in a thriller at Chadfields. On a very hot afternoon, both sides should be given credit for the entertainment they gave to the crowd of 69.
The visitors struck early when Luke Marshall picked up on a mistake in the Dockers defence to fire home. Marshall had the ball in the net 2 minutes later, but was ruled offside. The dangerous Marcus Milner caused the Dockers defence problems early on, but soon after Tilbury equalised when Emiel Aiken headed home from a Neil Richmond cross.
On 18 minutes Milner ran through to fire home off the post. On 26 Cheshunt made it 3-1 with Tom Bruno running the length of the half to slot home past Bogard. Tilbury did come into the game with Harry Cook striking the bar on 27 and a minute later Aiken hit a low effort wide. With 10 minutes to the break Kurt Smith got himself in the box and was needlessly tripped. The same player scored from the spot to give the home side a lifeline. Tilbury looked the more dangerous side before the break with Mead and Cook linking up well. Just before the break, a number players in the front of the bench decided to push and shove and after dying down, the referee deemed one yellow card, when red was the order of the day
Both sides came out attacking after the break, but it was Tilbury who found the net on 54 when Kurt Smith played a ball to Jimmy Cook who smashed home left footed to make it 3-3. With 22 minutes remaining Tilbury keeper Bogard was harshly sent off for denying a goalscoring chance. Kurt Smith took over between the sticks. With 5 minutes to go Smith was called into action when he made a fine save from Hallett. With a minute remaining in the game, a dangerous free from Conor Mead came off Cheshunt defender Luke Illsley into the net to give Tilbury all the points and move up to 3rd in the league.
After the game, Coach George Young commented. " The spirit within the dressing room is great We made a poor start, but pleased we never game up and got our just deserts"
