Tilbury’s fine winning run continued with a single goal victory over in form Wroxham, making it 6 out of 7 wins for the Dockers and conceding just 2 goals in that time.

Tilbury were worthy of all 3 points on a boggy Trafford Park pitch in front of 135 supporters which saw Wroxham’s first defeat in five games.

Tilbury made one change from there last outing with Francis Babalola coming in for injured captain Matt Game.

Tilbury started the stronger side with Francis Babalola scuffing a shot straight at Pride inside the first 2 minutes. Despite the difficult conditions, Tilbury continued to play good fluid football and on 12 minutes Richmond played in Aiken whose effort was deflected for a corner. Pride was to the rescue again on 16 when a dangerous corner was collected just under the bar with Joe Nightingill lurking.

On 25 Tilbury scored the all-important goal and deservedly took the lead when Babalola ran down the right wing, playing the ball to Tom Wood on the corner of the box, the midfielder letting the ball come across his body before curling into the top left corner with a superb left footed strike.

This gave The Yachtsmen the wakeup call they needed to get going, and they finally began to play some passes together as the game reached the half hour mark. Garrod was played through but was denied by the inform Tilbury goalkeeper Jack Giddens.

Most of Tilbury’s best moments were coming down the right – in particular from the dangerous Babalola – and another ball in from the right two minutes later caused panic in the Wroxham box, Taylor again saving the day at the last as he hooked Aiken’s flicked header off the line. Wroxham needed inspiration from somewhere and just before the break White leaped highest to help Gordon’s free kick on with an effort that look destined for the top right corner, only for the ball to hit the bar and fly out.

Wroxham did come out after the break a better side and penned Tilbury back. Tilbury should have increased the lead on the hour when Babalola missed a glorious chance. A misplaced header from Halliday sparked a two-on-one, the ball rebounding off Price to let the winger through on goal, Babalola trying to square it before getting a second attempt from Pride’s block, only for his scuffed effort to be acrobatically blocked by Price on the line and into the goalkeeper’s hands. Seconds later the referee sent Tilbury substitute Harry Cook from the bench for something said to the assistant referee. The incident came after Wroxham’s Garrod raised his hands to Cook, with the officials uncited. To the credit of the home side, Garrod was immediately substituted for his part in the incident.

Wroxham were trying their best to attack but were struggling, striking the woodwork again with a half chance from Taylor, the right back making the most of a high ball in to win the header and then lift his effort over Giddens and against the right post.

On 70 Tony Martin’s had a good effort from an Aiken cross. In the final ten minutes, the home side began to dominate possession in search of an equaliser and made a double substitution. One of the substitutions Baker blazed over with 3 minutes remaining, before a final effort for Guyton who saw his shot sent wide. The result saw Tilbury get over the line for a deserved three points. At the final whistle the Tilbury players celebrated with their delighted supporters

The result sees Tilbury move up to one place to 12th.

After the game a delighted Tilbury Manager Gary Henty said "I asked the boys to do 3 simple jobs in the game and they carried these out superbly. Some of the football we played was brilliant and the result shows where the boys have come over the last few months. Competition for places in the side is keeping the whole squad on their toes. Another clean sheet really pleases me”

Tilbury are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Ware. 7.45pm kick off.
