Tilbury suffered back to back defeats against an improving Soham Town side, who left Essex worthy winners.
Tilbury went in to the encounter with a single change, new signing Ryan Ramsey replaced the injured Joe Burgess.
Tilbury started in similar fashion to last week, with numerous chances. On 2 minutes Darren Phillipsheaded wide, before Lewis Smith was denied by a save. On 19 Kris Newby saw his his free-kick well parried over by Pope. On the half hour a good bit of skill by George Sykes saw the best chance for Dockers deflected wide.
Soham grew into the game close to the interval with Rhys Madden denying Ally Conway on 2 occasions.
A early second half strike by Mitchell Gilbey at Pope was the best it got for Tilbury as Soham started to dominate the game. On 68 Soham had a great chance, but Ryan Boswell was on hand to clear off the line. The resulting corner saw the deadlock broken. An in-swinging corner from Will Gardner was nodded in on the line by Sam Mulready with Rhys Madden beaten.
Tilbury could not contain Mulready as he was on the score sheet again on 85 when Gardner was again the provider and saw a deft touch go into the net.
With 2 minutes remaining substitute Ryan Auger swung his corner in and it was by Mulready whose header flew home for his hat-trick.
The result sees Tilbury drop a single place to 11th and the chances of a play off place slowly fading.
Tilbury are back in action next Saturday, when they travel to Witham Town 3.00pm kick off.
