Tilbury 1 Great Wakering Rovers 3 (Att 59)

Tilbury exited the Alan Turvey League Cup at the first hurdle with a 3-1 defeat against a good Great Wakering Rovers side on Tuesday night.

Tilbury made 3 changes to the side who won handsomely at Romford on Saturday with Richmond, Martin and Pooley coming into the side. In the opening period, the visitors saw a lot of the ball. Jay Nash who caused problems all night hit over from the edge of the area inside the first 10 minutes showing his teams intent. Tilbury's strikers Richmond and Martin also had chances, Richmond lobbing from 40 yards just over an Martin crashing the upright from 25 yards.
The opening goal came on 26 when Billy Johnson fired home from the left. Within 6 minutes it was 2 -0 when Pugsley slotted home after Bogard and Nightingill got themselves in a mess and collided. Just before the break a rare Tilbury attack saw Kurt Smith hit wide from distance.

Tilbury came out after the break stronger and pulled a goal back almost immediately when Babalola played in captain Matt Game who hit low in to the net. This was after a quick free kick. Great Wakering sat back for a short time before they went on the attack and increased there lead. On 55 a long range effort from Radley hit the bar and Tom Ranger was on hand to hit the ball home from the rebound.

The remainder of the half was littered with fouls and an incident in the 82nd minute of the game saw 4 players cautioned in an incident that seemed to be missed by the referee and his 2 assistants as red cards would have been the order of the day. Late in the game Wakering hit the bar and Cleaver also had a good effort well saved by Bogard.

Bogard, Mead (Hanlon 75), Pooley (Edmunds 89), Nightingill, D Smith, Game, Babalola (Aiken 73), Carlile, Richmond, Martin, K Smith
