Tilbury 4 Brentwood Town 1 (Att 155)

Tilbury made it two wins in three days, with a well worked 4-1 victory over a flat Brentwood Town side on a hot April afternoon at Chadfields.

Manager Marc Harrison made a single change with Billy Purdy making his first start in place of Ryan Boswell, who had been ever present over the last 28 games.

Tilbury made a fast and furious start with the dangerous Mitchell Gilbey going close twice in the opening 5 minutes.

Brentwood had a good chance on 10 minutes when Albert Levett saw his effort well tipped wide by Rhys Madden. Tilbury did take the lead on 14 minutes when George Sykes got himself in to the box and saw Rob Budd misjudge the pass and Oli Spooner jumped in front to hit in to an empty net. Brentwood had some corners midway through the half, but kept out. On 28 a good move between Gilbey and Sykes, saw a corner given away. The resulting Kris Newby corner found the unmarked head of George Sykes to nod home. Both sides had early chances after the break, with Charlie Hughes for the visitors seeing his goal bound effort deflected wide. The next action saw Tilbury increase the lead when a break up field saw Gilbey beat a defender, before crossing to the feet of George Sykes who slotted home.

Tilbury were in good heart and the fourth came with 22 minutes remaining for the goal of the game. Another good move, found Marcus Bowers, who held the ball back and laid to Harry Watkins to curl his effort in to an empty net.

Brentwood pulled a consolation goal back on 76 when Nathan Fox was unchallenged before hitting home. In the final minute an elbow was missed by the referee, which saw a Brentwood player only given a yellow card.

Brentwood finished well, but the win, takes Tilbury up to 7th in the league.

Tilbury play one final game away to the champion Bowers and Pitsea next Saturday. 3.00pm kick off.

Tilbury: Madden, Purdy, Burgess, Newby, Salami, Phillips (Cumming 58), Gilbey, Watkins (Kessel 79), Sykes,  Spooner, and Bowers (Ramsey 82)
