Heybridge Swifts 2 Tilbury 1 (Att 113)

Tilbury suffered another away defeat at the hands of Essex rivals Heybridge Swifts on Saturday, with two set pieces the difference between the sides.

Tilbury included Emiel Aiken from injury and Ollie Hanlon and Andy Edmunds returned to the starting line up after being out of the team for a while.
Tilbury made a great start to the game as on 6 minutes captain Jack Carlile crossed for Ollie Hanlon who somehow stabbed home with the Heybridge defence static. Tilbury played some good football, but the home side stung back on 23 when a defender was not cleared and Lewis Godbold hit home. Before the break Greg Cundle had a fine effort from 20 yards just wide, before Jack Smith who was unmarked was denied by a good Clarke Bogard save. On 56 Heybridge did take the lead when a cross found the head of Jack Barham who was at the back post to head home unchallenged.

Heybridge were in control, denying Tilbury any goalmouth action. In the final minute Jake Pooley defended well as George Doyle's headed wide the confirmed the 3 valuable points.

The result leaves Tilbury remaining in 8th place. The Dockers have Essex Senior Cup action on Tuesday when they travel to Redbridge in the quarter finals, with the winner travelling to Heybridge Swifts in the semi final.

Tilbury: Bogard, C Mead, J Cook (D Smith 82), Pooley, Nightingill, Jaggs, Edmunds (James 64), Carlile, Aiken, Cundle, Hanlon (Spalding 78).

Unused subs: Webb and R Mead
