Heybridge Swifts 2 Tilbury 1 (Att 221)

A last minute goal resulted in Tilbury losing 2-1 at high-flying Heybridge Swifts.

Kreshnic Krasniqi sent a 62nd minute penalty to Dockers goalkeeper Clarke Bogard’s left to break the deadlock, but Joe Keith’s side thought they had snatched a share of the spoils when Albie Keith equalised with just three minutes to play. It was Heybridge who were to score a late winner as Ryan Henshaw headed home after Tilbury failed to claim Jack Cawley’s long throw-in.

Tilbury made two changes with Albie Keith and Ross Gleed returning to the side.

It was an open start to the game with both sides having early chances. On 8 minutes, Tilbury were denied a clear cut penalty when Ahmed Abdulla handled in the box, but the referee was unsighted.

On 27 Tilbury keeper Clarke Bogard made a good save from Juan Luque and then made a superb double save from Matt Price when sent clear and then Sam Ashford with the rebound.

The Dockers went close just before the break when Harry Norman fired across the face of the goal.

The opener came on 61 when Krasniqi was brought down in the box before coolly slotting home the resulting penalty. 3 minutes later substitute Joe Paxman saw his bullet effort was well blocked by Baker. The visitors levelled with 3 minutes to go when Albie Keith got on to a knock down and squeezed the ball home despite the efforts of James Baker to clear it.

Swifts hit back in the last minute when a long throw was met by Ryan Henshaw among a host of players to get the vital connection to force the ball over the line.

The result sees Heybridge Swifts remain 6th, with Tilbury in 19th.

Tilbury welcome Maldon & Tiptree on Tuesday night.
