Witham Town 3 Tilbury 0 (Attendance 85)

A much improved Dockers performance, but still went down to a 3-0 defeat to champions elect Witham Town on Tuesday night.

Manager Paul Vaughan gave a debut to Tom Wood in midfield and he did not disappoint.
Tilbury started strongly with Blackman firing from distance that saw a comfortable save. The Dockers were dealt a blow in 15 when Jack West pulled up with a suspected hamstring pull and had to be replaced by Piers Wixon. On 28 the game came to life, when a Blackman cross found Tom Wood who saw his effort cleared off the line. Witham attacked immediately and saw the unfortunate James Marrable fail to hold on to a shot from Sweeney as it went through his hands and legs and rolled over the line for a goal. Witham went further in front on 35 when a corner was headed into a packed goalmouth and found former Docker Paul King in an offside position to head into the net. Despite protests that saw Captain Waters cautioned the referee awarded a goal. Blackman again went close just before the break when he fired from 35 yards that went just over the bar.

Despite some excellent runs from Babalola, Witham increased their lead on 53 when a cross in to the box saw King again to head home and wrap up the points. Both sides had late chances, but Witham's win sees them remain 2nd with games in hand.

Tilbury welcome in form Romford on Saturday, before travelling to Waltham Abbey next Tuesday. The result leaves the Dockers in 18th place.
