Aveley 0 Tilbury 4 (Att 77)

Tilbury put a disappointing February aside with a comprehensive victory over local rivals Aveley at Millfield on Saturday. Tilbury gave a debut to former Aveley and Romford midfielder Luke Stanley who played a part in the victory. Assistant manager Danny Smith was also included in the side as the Dockers returned to winning ways.

The hero of the afternoon was substitute Tony Martin who fired home a 16 minute hat trick.

The Dockers started brightly with former Tilbury keeper James Marrable making a fine save from Dwade James point blank header on 13 minutes. Just past the half hour saw Luke Stanley brought down in the box, which saw reliable Danny Glozier score from the spot. Tilbury did have a good chance to increase the lead on 44 when James picked up on a mistake in the home defence, but Marrable again saved his side.

The Dockers continued to press a defence who were having some trouble and on 55 a good passing movement saw James again go close. On 58 Stanley had a good effort saved by Marrable, before Cook's follow up as clicked for a corner. Jack Carlile flicked the corner wide of the post.

Just past the hour saw Aveley go a whisker from equalising when Andres Tobon burst through and hit the inside of the post and that miss cost the hosts.

On 70 the game swung Tilbury's way with the introduction of Tony Martin who made an impact inside 4 minutes, after some poor defending saw the ball fall to Martin and he powered past a man on the line to slot home in to an empty net. .

On 82 Emiel Aiken’s shot into the net saw the offside flag to deny the third goal, but the Aiken did assist in the 3rd goal of the game a minute later, when he crossed from the left to Martin who crashed home minutes to go.

With the game winding down Martin could not control a ball to fire his 3rd, but was given one last opportunity 3 minutes into injury time when substitute Andy Edmunds crossed for Martin who was standing on the line marked to tap into the net.

The whistle blew shortly after leaving the Tilbury celebrating the win with the large contingent who had made the short trip.

The result leaves Tilbury now in 9th place. The Dockers have just 48 hours before they travel to Thamesmead Town on Monday night.

After the game a delighted Assistant Manager Danny Smith commented "After a difficult period and against a decent side, it was a fantastic result for the lads. We must build on this and finish the season well. I also want to give credit to the hard working team and management for a good afternoon"
