My man of the match Jake Pooley, and since his return to the side he has not put a foot wrong, well played Jake.

Tilbury 2 Waltham Abbey 1 (Att 76)A brace from Tony Martin before a red card for Waltham Abbey’s Christian Assombalonga saw Tilbury make it 6 out of 6 in a hard fought 2-1 victory over an improved Waltham Abbey side on Tuesday night.Tilbury made 2 changes with Babalola and Mead returning to the side. In a quiet opening Wixon had a good chance early but was denied by a good block from Bogard.Abbey settled into the game and saw a good move finished with the head of Assombalonga that went just over the top. From the resulting attack on 27 minutes, Tilbury took the lead. Emiel Aiken worked room down the left flank to deliver a ball into the box where Tony Martin was free to head into the bottom right corner. On the half hour the excellent Jake Pooley made a great tackle to deny Abbey. Tilbury's tails were already up and soon doubled their lead through Martin again. This time down the right side Francis Babalola delivered the ball into the feet of Martin who had time to turn and pick his corner from just six yards out to glide home.Matters were made worse for the visitors five minutes before the break, when Assombalonga was involved in an off the ball incident and the referee decided to produce a red card for throwing an arm. On half time Jack Carlile had an effort cleared near the line.A forlorn Abbey re-entered the fray after the break a man down but ten minutes into the restart could and really should have halved the scores.Ryan Flack's brilliant outside of the foot through ball split the Tilbury defence to release Lentell through on goal but sent his shot straight into the Bogard. On the hour Waltham Abbey got themselves back in the game when Lentell was proving the danger man for Abbey, hit across goal, but the ball took a deflection off Pooley hitting the inside of the net.Boosted by their goal Abbey continued to press and really should have equalised when substitute Michael Pindy put it on a plate for Wixon to score from six yards out but somehow miscued it wide. Neil Richmond had a late effort was brilliantly saved. And that proved to be their final chance of the match as Tilbury held on for all three points and moved up to 5th in the league. After the game coach George Young commented “The result was important. We were not at our best tonight, but proud of the effort and work rate throughout. Really pleased with the win.The Dockers are not back in action until next Tuesday when they welcome leaders Cray Wanderers.Team: Bogard, C Mead, Glozier, D Smith, Pooley, Game, Babalola (J Cook 77), Carlile, Richmond (Cathline 85), Martin, Aiken.Unused Subs: Austin, Webb, and Nightingill.
