Tilbury 1 Romford 0 (Att 79)

A late Emiel Aiken effort was the difference between two well matched sides and the result keeps up Tilbury's good recent good home record. After a disappointing defeat at Thamesmead a week ago the Dockers bounced back to see them move up 3 places in the league.
The visitors will be disappointed to go into the break goalless after a number of attempts in front of goal. Eddie Hart had a good chance inside 20 seconds, but was denied by Bradley Webb. Webb was again the saviour on 8 minutes when he denied Seymour with a clearance off the line. Tilbury's first effort of the afternoon fell on 9 minutes when Tony Martin fired wide from distance. Romford should have taken the lead on 21 when Hart blazed over from 6 yards following a corner. On a heavy suffice, goalmouth action was at a premium. Romford keeper Ormand made a good save from Wood on 64, but Tilbury had to defend well with Romford attacking in droves. A couple of substitutions from Tilbury seemed to make a difference and they were rewarded on 80 minutes. A quick free kick from Jack Carlile saw the visitors sleeping and Emiel Aiken run through to crash home at the near post past the diving Ormand. The visitors pushed hard for an equaliser, but the result saw the Dockers with another deserved clean sheet.

The result sees Tilbury move up to 14th.

After the game a pleased Tilbury Manager Gary Henty said "We played some good football in patches on a heavy pitch, but nothing gives me more pleasure as a manager than a clean sheet. After a defeat, a sign of a good side is to get back to winning ways. I hope the boys can take all this hardwork in to Monday's game"

Tilbury are back in action on Monday when they travel to the home of Ilford to take on Barkingside. 7.45pm kick off.

Team:- Giddens, Webb, J Cook, Nightingill, Smith, Game, Wood (Flack 76), Carlile, Richmond (Daniel 90), Martin (Babalola 66) and Aiken

Subs not used: Henty and Johnson
