Blue Square South club Braintree Town have signed experienced midfielder Lee Hodges from Ryman League Division One North neighbours Tilbury.

Hodges, 31, began his career with West Ham United, and went on to play for eight other League clubs, including Scunthorpe, Rochdale and Bristol Rovers on permanent moves and Exeter, Leyton Orient, Plymouth, Ipswich and Southend on loan.

In 2005 he dropped into non-League football with Thurrock and had a short spell with AFC Hornchurch before joining Tilbury in the summer of 2009 from Billericay Town as a player-coach.
