Tilbury picked up there first league victory of the season, with a hard fought win over Barking at Mayesbrook Park on Tuesday night. The game was decided by a single goal from Tom Anderson.
Manager Joe Keith included former Docker Kris Newby in his line up.
It was a cagey opening, chances at a premium. On 10 minutes the all important goal came, when Tom Anderson picked the ball up 20 yards out and rifled past the helpless Olajide for a fine effort. A few minutes later Lewis Smith saw his free-kick go straight at the keeper.
Albie Keith then headed wide, before Barking defender Joe Bruce almost headed into his own net before the break. The home side finishing the half strong.
Barking started the second half the way they finished the first when a mistake in the visitors defence, saw Rhys Madden having to pull off a fine save.
On 55 Tilbury thought they had increased the lead, when Anderson had the ball in the net, but it was ruled out for offside. Late in the game Manny Ighorae almost stole the point, when Madden had to make a fine save. In the final seconds, Barking struck the base of the post as they tried hard for an equaliser.
The result sees Tilbury move up 2 places to 17th. Tilbury have yet another weekend off, before travelling to Canvey Island on 6th October.
