Tilbury's away form has seen one league defeat since early September and kept this run going with a deserved 2-1 victory at Norwich United. 

 

Tilbury made a two changes from Tuesday, with Eli Beniot returning to the side following injury and a debut for Reece Hewitt in midfield.  

 

It was an encouraging start by the Dockers, with Lewis Jaggs sending his volley from 30 yards seeing Andrew Wilton saving. On 14 Tilbury took the lead when Toby Armolaran ran down the right wing, crossed for Neil Richmond to swing his right foot to rifle home. Tilbury gained lots of possession and stood firm, despite some robust challenges from the home side. Before the break Kurt Smith hit his low free kick towards goal, before he struck the bar with a well directed header. A Reece Hewitt cross caused danger and Richmond could not follow up. Tilbury went into the break the happier of the sides. 


Norwich started the second half well and saw Matthew Brown hit a shot across goal. The highlight of the game came on 62 when Toch Singh hit a long ball to Neil Richmond, who controlled well, before unleashing a left footed effort that flew into the roof of the net, for a goal as good as you will see all season. 

Norwich struck back just 3 minutes later when Tim Henery hit a low effort from 20 yards that when low into the net for a fine goal. Norwich had a good period with substitute Liam Jackson going close. Richmond was looking for a hat-trick and went close with 10 minutes remaining when he volleyed over the top. With 6 minutes remaining, the home side were dealt a blow when Jamie Speller was dismissed for a poor challenge on Reece Conway that saw the end of his game. Despite the goal advantage, Tilbury had a succession of corners, keeping the home side on the back foot. In the final minutes, Singh played the ball to the back post, when another debutant Lewis Francis was denied by some excellent defending. 


The result sees Tilbury move up 2 places to 8th. Tilbury are back at Chadfields on Tuesday, when they welcome Witham Town.
