Waltham Abbey 2 Tilbury 2 (Att 62)

Tilbury came back from 2-0 down to earn a draw at a chilly Cappershots on Tuesday night.

Simon Peddie and Kyan Gulliver returned to the side and started slowly. The home side took the lead on 11 minutes when Shad Ngandu ran through unmarked to coolly slot home. Abbey took the game to Tilbury and looked the likely of the two sides to score.

Tilbury slowly came back into the game before the break, without creating any real clear cut chances. Things got worse for the Dockers as just 4 minutes into the second half, a long range effort saw Bogard scupper back to his line, only to pat the ball from the underside of the bar and the ball then fell to Aron Gordon to score in to an empty net.

Tilbury received a lifeline on 55 when Lewis Jaggs ran into the box after the referee played a good advantage, before being harshly bundled over in the box by Joynes. Adam Vyse stepped up to score.

Tilbury then started to dominate the game and put the home side on the back foot. Then both Emiel Aiken and Adam Vyse went close. On 78 Tilbury levelled when substitute Toby Aromolaran held the ball up well, before laying the ball to Jack Carlile, who perfectly curled home.

From the restart and the game end to end, Clarke Bogard had to be at his best to keep out an effort that was going in, before Kris Newby chipped at the keeper after good work from Vyse.

Shad Ngandu then struck the bar, with both sides going for it. Newby cleared off the line before Tilbury finished really strong. With just a few seconds to go Toby Aromolaran was through one on one, but could not hit the target.

The result sees Tilbury sitting in 17th spot. On Saturday they travel to Soham Town Rangers.

After the game Manager Joe Keith commented. "Pleased with the comeback, but very disappointed with the first half performance".
