Cheshunt 3 Tilbury 2 (Att 127)

Tilbury went down to there 3rd successive defeat to play off pushing Cheshunt on a chilly night in Hertfordshire.
Tilbury had to contend with more absences as Danny Glozier and Conor Mead were unavailable on top of the three regulars missing due to injury.
Tilbury started brightly and after just 2 minutes went close in a goalmouth scramble. Matt Game then went close on 10, before a minute later took the lead, when a stray back pass by Illsley was picked up by Neil Richmond who slotted past keeper May. Tilbury were in control and working hard. On 30 Kurt Smith picked up the ball on the left, cut in, but dragged his shot wide of the post.

Cheshunt had a good chance on 37 when Adam Bolle hit the side netting.
A minute later another mistake in the home defence saw Greg Cundle race through, but May made a fine save with his legs. Cheshunt went straight up the other end and missed a good chance to equalise. Bolle latched on to a ball forward, and managed to round the keeper, but from a tight angle, was unable to hit home.
Tilbury were the happier side at the break and within 2 minutes of the second half, increased the lead when a poor header fell to Kurt Smith who volleyed home first time with his left foot for a fine effort.
Tilbury were defending well but two goals in a matter of three minutes completely changed the state of the game. In the 69th minute substitute Marshall got on the end of a long ball and fired home into the bottom corner. On 72 Liam Hope tapped home from a corner. Cheshunt became dominant, keeping out any Tilbury attack with Dave Kendall in fine form. On 79, Cheshunt turned the game on its head when the dangerous Jason Hallett beat the offside trap down the left, got to the by line, crossed that beat Bogard and Hope was on hand to hit home. In the final minute Cheshunt almost grabbed a fourth when Marshall fired into May and with the rebound falling to Hallett who smashed the ball against the bar.

The result leaves Tilbury in 8th place. The Dockers return to action on Saturday against another play off side when they welcome AFC Hornchurch.
