Cheshunt 2 Tilbury 1 (Att 147 )

After stopping the losing run last Saturday, Tilbury suffered a narrow defeat at a resurgent Cheshunt on Saturday but will again be disappointed with losing out on a set piece play. On another bright sunny afternoon in Hertfordshire, Tilbury welcomed back experienced Matt Game and Joe Nightingill but were without the services of Francis Babalola and Jack Carlile. It was a bright opening from the Dockers with Wood's effort deflected just wide from a corner. Cheshunt took the lead on 20 when Centre half Lewis Payne headed home from a corner with a little help of a deflection. It became 2-0 shortly after when Cheshunt broke and former Docker Adam Bolle found himself in space to slot home after Johnson saved the initial effort. Tilbury were on the back foot for periods with Fagbohun causing problems. Tilbury had a good effort just before the break when Flack crossed for Elliott Johnson who saw his effort saved. Aiken went close seconds in to the second half when he hit just over the top. Bolle then saw his free kick go over the top for the home side. With 15 minutes to go Joe Nightingill found himself on his own in the 6 yard box but hit straight at the keeper. Tilbury manager Gary Henty made late substitutions and was rewarded with 2 minutes to go when a goalmouth scramble saw Nightingill shoot only to see his effort blocked on the line before Ryan Flack tapped home. Tilbury threw everything at the home side in the final seconds and Jack West went close. Bolle also went close late on as Cheshunt broke from defence.

Tilbury are back in action on Wednesday night when they take the short trip to Aveley to play rivals Grays Athletic in the Ryman League Cup. On Saturday, Tilbury welcome Cray Wanderers to Chadfields.

Team:- Johnson, Pooley, Johnson, Nightingill, S West, Vezza (H Cook 70), Flack, Game, Remy (J West 75), Aiken (Obersteller 80) and Wood
