U14s v Woodbridge Town match report
Tilbury - 4 Woodbridge Town - 2
With the pressure on at the top of the table these young Dockers faced tough opposition in Woodbridge Town who currently sit third in the table and still have hopes of securing the runners up spot.
Tilbury started the game on fire and were one nil in front after only five minutes when Tyrell Phillips turned in a sweet volley from a fine cross by Jesse Blohm.
Within a couple of minutes and Tilbury were two up with Ben Foord's determination saw him beat two defenders and the keeper to slot home from close range again following good work down the Tilbury left.
The Dockers were in complete control creating chances at will for the first twenty minutes, however this led to a degree of complacency.
On twenty five minutes Woodbridge having forced their way back into the game with no small degree of determination and good teamwork scored a fine goal when their number nine hit a superb shot on the turn over Jordan Cammack in the Tilbury goal.
The Dockers responded almost Immediatley to restore the two goal advantage when Jesse Blohm shot home following a corner to leave the score 3-1 at half time.
The second half started with Woodbridge forcing a fine save from Jordan Cammack after some sloppy play from the Dockers.
The Tilbury management rang the changes during the second half which somehwhat disrupted the play but nevertheless gave the full squad invaluable game time.
Tilbury added a fourth when the speedy Robbie Clarricoats pounced on a long through ball beating two defenders for pace before sweetly lofting the ball over the on rushing keeper.
Clarricoats nearly added a fifth when again beating everybody for pace only to see his fine shot cannon off the bar.
For most of the second half It was a question of when Tilbury would add the fifth but some resolute defending and fine goalkeeping kept the Dockers at bay.
The final goal of the game came against the run of play when a Woodbridge forward beat the Dockers defence to a througnh ball and with Jordan undecided in the Tilbury goal he deftly lobbed into the net for what proved the last action of the day.
Tilbury will be very pleased to get this difficult fixture out of the way and secure another valuable three points in their pursuit of the league title.
