Bowers and Pitsea 3 Tilbury 1 (Att 227)
Tilbury's final league game of the season saw defeat at champions Bowers and Pitsea, in a game they were in for a long period.
On a blustery afternoon, Manager Marc Harrison made a single change, with Ryan Boswell replacing Billy Purdy in defence.
Tilbury started brightly with Mitchell Gilbey hitting a volley just wide after 3 minutes. On 15 Bowers took the lead after a slow build up play, the ball was fed through to James Thomas who fired home. On 26 David Knight went close with a chip that went over the top. Before the break Tilbury had a number set pieces, but could not take the advantage. After the break Knight was denied by a fine Rhys Madden save, before seconds later George Sykes went down the left, sent over a heavy cross that somehow, went over Wilton and in to the net for a deserved equaliser. On the hour James Thomas was left unmarked and should have scored, but hit wide. Sykes found himself in space on the right as Tilbury continued to attack, before Sykes then pulled up with a hamstring injury and had to be replaced. This seem to galvanise the home side as substitute Jamie Dicks turned in from the right and hit left footed past Madden. Sartain and Nyanja both had efforts at goal, but Madden had to be at his best.
With 10 minutes remaining, Bowers confirmed the points when the effective and leading goalscorer David Knight found space and hit low into the net.
Tilbury never really threatened after this and finished the season in 10th position.
Tilbury: Madden, Boswell, Burgess, Newby, Salami, Phillips, Gilbey, Watkins, Sykes (Cumming 62), Spooner and Bowers
Subs unused Purdy, Wheatley and Kessel
