Hertford Town 3 Tilbury 2 (Att 209)

Tilbury returned to action after a 2 week break and suffered defeat with a late winner for the home side.

Tilbury gave a debut to Hussain Jaffa following his recent signing from Barking.

The Dockers came out strong and after just 4 minutes a free kick from Kurt Smith saw his effort deflected wide. A minute later a Jack Carlile free kick ended up on the head of Jaffa who saw his effort go a whisker over.

Tilbury took a deserved lead on 11 minutes when Harry Norman found the net after good build up play from Toby Aromolaran and Adam Vyse. Hertford were back on level terms 7 minutes later when Charlie Ruff hit home after receiving a cross from the left. On 27 Hertford were in front when another move down the left seeing Jason Beck cut inside and hit home to Clarke Bogard's left hand post. Jack Carlie saw his effort on 31 cleared off the line as Tilbury continued to push for an equaliser.

The second half was more of a stop start affair with a number of fouls. Hertford were dealt a blow on 64 when defender Jay Lovell was dismissed for a second caution in the space of 4 minutes for an off the ball incident, that looked harsh.

Tilbury tried hard to make the man advantage count. On 71 a good Toby Aromolaran run saw his effort come off the cross bar. Just 2 minutes later Aromolaran got himself on the edge of the area, but was adjudged to be impeded inside the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Jack Carlile hit home to equaliser.

Brett O'Connor then saw a rare home effort go just wide. On 81 a Hertford effort was saved by Bogard, but then Ross Gleed was then adjudged to impede a home forward and it was then Hertford's chance to score from the spot, that Michael Toner coolly did.

Despite the 10 men, Hertford held out, despite good Tilbury pressure.

The result sees Tilbury drop to 19th. Tilbury travel to Brentwood Town on Tuesday.
