Tilbury 2 Brentwood Town 1 Att 109

Tilbury returned to winning ways after Saturday's disappointment, with goals in each half of the game to deservedly beat local rivals Brentwood Town.

On a very hot afternoon, Tilbury made two changes with Kurt Smith and George Pullen returning to the side and it was the home side who started well and took the lead on 10 minutes. A quick throw found Ryan Melaugh on the left who played in Adam Vyse to fire home. With Tilbury in the driving seat, Luke Hornsley fired into the side netting on 14. The same player saw his shot on the half hour spilt by the keeper and away to safety.
Just before the break Matt Price saw his two efforts blocked by Clarke Bogard and Emiel Aiken.
Price started the second half well and headed just wide as Brentwood got themselves back in the encounter.
Early in the second half, saw the introduction of Lewis Jaggs and Toch Singh and it was Jaggs on 65, saw his header loop, only to see the keeper Anthony Page parry the ball down in to feet of Luke Hornsley who charged him down to slide home for a deserved 2-0 lead.

On 71 Brentwood did get themselves back in the game when the effective Matt Price fired low into the net after some good build up play. Adam Vyse had an effort on 75 when Kurt Smith found him in space and Page parried well for a corner.
With 8 minutes to go substitute MIchael Salako headed over from another sub Toch Singh, as Tilbury finished well. With the game going to injury time Brentwood did attack, but Tilbury's defence held out well, to see Tilbury move up to 11th.

After the game, Tilbury manager Gary Henty commented "Pleased with the result and we dominated for long periods and could have put the game out of sight with the chances achieved.

The Dockers are back in action against Aylesbury United on Saturday 3pm ko in the FA Cup.
