Tilbury 0 AFC Sudbury 4 (Att 120)

Tilbury suffered a heavy opening day defeat to a good AFC Sudbury, who scored four times without reply against a lacklustre Dockers side.

Joe Keith gave debuts to James Walker and Lewis Smith.

Both sides had early chances, with Dockers Lewis Smith seeing his effort well blocked. The visitors came into the game and took the lead 5 minutes before the break when the ball fell to Billy Holland who hit a fine effort into the roof of the net.
Lewis Smith again had a good effort before the break when he was played in by Siju Odelusi. Before the Phil Kelly almost increased the lead when he struck the post.

AFC Sudbury went 2-0 up on 55 when a mistake in the home defence, saw Phil Kelly chip into an empty net. This seemed to knock Tilbury and on the hour the game was out of sight when Callum Harrison fired home for a simple goal.
Tilbury's only real effort fell shortly after when Tom Anderson was denied by a fine header off the line, but Darryl Coakley hit home from a cross from the left late in the game.

After the game manager Joe Keith commented "It was a massive reality check for everyone involved and a clear message that if you don't match the other teams work rate then it doesn't matter how much quality you have".

Tilbury travel to Soham Town Rangers on Saturday hoping to gain there first points of the season.

Tilbury: Bogard, Salami, Gleed, Peddie, Jaffa, Anderson, Smith, Norman, Odelusi (Vyse 65), Walker (Aromolaran 56) and Paxman (Keith 56)
