Tilbury 3 Maldon and Tiptree 1 (Att 79)

After a tough winter period, Tilbury produced one of their best performances of the season to dent Maldon and Tiptree's play-off hopes with an all-round performance

Tilbury dominated the game for long periods and started well when they win in front on 5 minutes. A long ball fell to Siju Odelusi who played a simple ball to Albie Keith who placed his low shot past Haigh.

The home side continued to have the better of the play and Tom Anderson could have increased the lead but misjudged Lewis Jaggs cross and put a close range effort wide, before claims for a penalty were denied as visiting keeper Chris Haigh clattered into Siju Odelusi as they both went for a loose ball. Anderson was guilty of another bad miss as the visitors defence again failed to clear Keith's centre with Anderson left in front of goal but he just lost control as he went to score. Then the striker Odelusi did well to get along the goal line before shooting just wide of the far post. Maldon had a good chance just before the break when a good move was finished off by Lee Barnard. Right on the half time Morgan was played in by Chris Millar but keeper Clarke Bogard was quickly off his line to clear the danger.

Maldon came out stronger after the break, but Tilbury did continue to close down there visitors. Maldon did equalise on 54 when George Brown received a throw in wide on the right from where he moved inside, avoiding a tackle, before firing a fine shot into the corner from just outside the box.

On 63 Tilbury were denied by fine keeping by Haigh when he save well from Albie Keith. A minute later the Dockers were back in front. Another long ball came to Joe Paxman who cleverly flicked on to Albie Keith who ran through to finish well into the roof of the net. The good period of play saw Tom Anderson denied by another good Chris Haigh save when he tipped over.

Tilbury did confirm the points with 3 minutes remaining as substitute Toby Aromolaran ran from the half way line into the box. His initial shot was blocked by Haigh, with Aromolaran on the floor, he somehow flicked his leg to the ball and went over the line.

The final action of the game saw Maldon Captain Joe Ellul sent off for receiving a second yellow card.

The result sees Tilbury move up one place to 18th. Tilbury welcome Dereham Town on Saturday for the last home game of the season.

Tilbury: Bogard, Jaggs, Turpin, Norman, Salami, Jaffa, Anderson, Carlile, Odelusi (Aromolaran 78), Keith (Little 89), and Paxman (Gleed 80)
