Essex Senior Cup Exit on Penalties
By Anthony Mercer
Tilbury 0 Harlow Town 0 - Harlow win 5-4 on penalties (Att 81)
Harlow Town progressed to the 4th Round of the BBC Essex Senior Cup on penalties after both sides could not find a breakthrough in 90 minutes, giving Harlow Town revenge on last years Essex Senior Cup defeat.
The game struggled to get going early on, with Reece Dobson going close on 16 when his header went just wide.
Tilbury dominated up to half time, with Lewis Jaggs seeing his free kick tipped over and the resulting corner saw Conor Mead seeing his effort again well saved by Samuel Szymczyk. Before the break centre half Joe Turpin had 2 great efforts to open the deadlock with efforts both going just wide.
Harlow came out stronger after the break and took the game to Tilbury. Andnea Kimpala on 59 saw his free kick take a deflection off a Tilbury defender in the wall and wrong-footed Bogard, but went just wide of the post.
Then an Alex Read cross was almost converted, but Clarke Bogard made the first of several good saves.
On 77 Alex Read collected a through ball, but the goal-bound shot was blocked by Joe Turpin. With a penalty shootout approaching, Livings had a final effort for the visitors. He cut in from the left hand side, but saw his low shot saved well with the legs of Bogard.
The game went to spot kicks, and on the 5th penalty Jey Siva saw his penalty saved, it looked as though the Hawks would crash out of the cup on penalties against Tilbury for the second successive season. Gulliver then saw his effort saved, before a sudden death miss by Bryan Kyungi saw Harlow win the shoot out 5-4.

Tilbury now have a break of 2 weeks, before action away to AFC Sudbury.

Team: Bogard, Mead, Dance (Gulliver 82), McWee (Austin 75), Salami, Turpin, Salako, Kyungu, Hornsley (Vyse 76), Jaggs, Little

Subs not Used: Waters and Aiken
