Canvey Island 2 Tilbury 3 (Att 268)

A good second half performance saw Tilbury come from behind to be beat fancied Canvey Island with Kurt smith in the thick of the action.

Tilbury made one change to their line up with Bryan Kyungu replacing Danny Norton.

The Dockers started well and went in front on 3 minutes when Adam Vyse played a free kick in the path of Kurt Smith who fired into the net with a slight deflection. The home side pushed hard and Clarke Bogard denied James Walker on 17 when he tipped over. Minutes later a good Tilbury move saw Canvey defender Steve Sheehan head over from a dangerous cross. The game was end to end, with Abdul Salami clearing well from a good Canvey move. Canvey were level on 26 when a good run saw the ball played into the box and Kurt Smith tried to clear and saw the ball go into his own net. Mitchell Gilbey then had a good shot denied before Canvey took the lead when a miss placed pass fell to Ryan Charles who ran through to hit low into the net. On 45 Canvey’s defender Sheehan saw his header come off the bar

Both sides were on the attack after the break with Vyse’s low effort saved. On the hour Gilbey unleashed a long range effort that again crashed off the bar.
Tilbury had a good period with Vyse denied by a good Gough save and again seconds later heading just wide. Tilbury drew level on 77 when a mistake in the Canvey defence saw keeper and defender collide and the ball fell to Adam Vyse to put into an empty net. There was a 7 minute delay following this due to an injury to Gough who continued for 8 minutes before being substituted. His last action was to collect the ball from the back of the net as Emiel Aiken got down the right and crossed for Kurt Smith to get in behind and score low into the net. Tilbury kept the ball well and defended stoutly. Deep into injury time Adam Vyse had a god opportunity when he ran through and put his shot a whisker wide of the right hand post. After 8 minutes of injury time the referee brought the game to a close and saw Tilbury pick up there first points of the season.
