Tilbury 1 Brightlingsea Regent 2 (Att 77)

Play off rivals, Tilbury and Brightlingsea Regent, served up an entertaining game, with Russell Malton scoring a brilliant goal for the visitors, to split the sides. Tilbury made 2 changes from Tuesday's win at Waltham Abbey and took the game to 2nd place Brightlingsea. In the first 5 minutes Joe Nightingill went close from a corner, before Neil Richmond seeing his low effort saved by Bowles.

Tilbury had a succession of corners and some good runs from Lewis Francis, but could not finish. Regent's first chance on goal, resulted in them taking the lead when Robbie Rees turned well in the box to score, despite appeals for a foul on Nightingill in the build up play. Tilbury despite going behind continued to create pressure and it paid off on 33 when Lewis Jaggs whipped a cross in for Joe Nightingill to rifle his header home. Before the break Hewitt and Francis sent dangerous crosses in.

The winning goal came 5 minutes into the second half when Russell Malton picked up the ball just inside Tilbury's half and unleashed a fantastic effort that flew past Lee Butcher in the home goal for a fine goal.

Jack Barham had two chances as Brightlingsea grew into the game. On 68 Aaron Condon had a shot well dealt with by Lee Butcher, but the visitors held out to remain second in the league.

Tilbury dropped 3 places in the league and look to get back into the play off zone on Tuesday, when they welcome another hopeful Cheshunt.
