Tilbury 0 Lewes 3 (Att 80)

Lewes made smooth progress to the First Qualifying Round of the Buildabase FA Trophy, with a comfortable 3-0 victory over a disappointing Tilbury side, which sees Tilbury's good run come to an end.

The visitors travelled to Essex and some of the players did not arrive until 25 minutes before kick off, but came out of the blocks from the kick off, with Brotherton forcing a save out of the Butcher in the first minute.

Lewes did take the lead inside 5 minutes when Ronnie Conlon's shot took a slight deflection, but went into the back of the net.

Tilbury did try and put Lewes under pressure.  Lewes winger Coppola caused the Tilbury defence a number of problems and was in the thick of the action.

On 33 Lewes went further in front. A Brotherton corner was flicked on by Dixon and found Conlon whose shot hit the post but Coppola was on hand to smack in the rebound.  The sides went into the break, but Tilbury felt they were still in the tie and on 54 had a great opportunity when James crossed from Kurt Smith, who from 4 yards, hit over the top and an opportunity lost.

Lewes wrapped up the tie in the 71st minute when a corner from Dixon found Lloyd Cotton who headed home unchallenged. Within a minute substitute Wale Odedoyin got himself into the box, but his shot was well blocked. Then Dwade James was put in, but Cotton made a fine last ditch block.

Tilbury did push hard and it as Lewes who finished strongly. On 83 Alex Laing hit over when he should have scored and with 2 minutes to go Coppola saw his rasping effort well turned over by Lee Butcher.

In the final minute Neil Richmond volleyed towards goal, which was the last action of the game.

Tilbury welcome Bowers and Pitsea on Saturday, looking to keep up there good league form.
