Tilbury 2 Dereham Town 1 (Att 67)

A late Jack Carlile header was enough to split the sides in a close fought match and see Tilbury win there first league match of the season. Manager Gary Henty gave Harry Cook and Eli Beniot there first starts of the season, as well as a debut for Toch Singh.

In a fast and furious opening, Harry Cook saw his effort blocked near the line on 6 minutes, before Connor Green hit over for the visitors minutes later. Dereham had a good period and Beniot had to be at his best to clear well. Both sides had efforts from distance.

Tilbury took the lead on 36 when Harry Cook played the ball through for Emiel Aiken to advance through and chip over the keeper in to the net.

Within a minute Dereham were fortunate not to be down to 10 men when Dion Frary kicked out at Harry Cook, but somehow not seen by the officials. Just before the break, Dereham again went close when Radomski saw his good effort well turned around the post by Lee Butcher.

Tilbury started the second half well with Tony Martin striking the bar on 51, before the visitors struck. Rhys Logan got down the right before cutting in to fire across goal into the net.

The visitors did lose Connor Green with 15 minutes to go for a second yellow card after a pull on Kurt Smith. Tilbury did take advantage and scored the all important goal with 6 minutes remaining when an Emiel Aiken shot was brilliantly saved by Tom Wright, but from the resulting corner by Kurt Smith, found Jack Carlile to head into the net.

Tom Anderson went close in the final minute, before Tilbury kept possession of the ball well in injury time.

The result sees Tilbury move up to 14th and travel to Great Wakering Rovers on Monday afternoon.

After the game Assistant Manager Danny Smith commented "After an indifferent first half, I was pleased with our performance after the break"

Tilbury: Butcher, Beniot, Norton, Peddie, Nightingill, Anderson, Aiken, Carlile, H Cook Richmond 75), Martin (Odedoyin 82), K Smith (Singh 87)
