Harlow Town 3 Tilbury 2 (Att 262)

A late late Harlow Town winner saw Tilbury leave Barrows Farm without a point after a good second half comeback.
It was a good start for Harlow, when Benjamin unleashed a 25 yard strike past Louis Hawes after just 5 minutes. On 9 minutes Dwade James had an opportunity to hit back when he ran into the Harlow box, but his effort went just wide of the post.
On 23 Tilbury had a good shout for a penalty when Francis Babalola was cleaned out in the box, but the referee who was well placed said no. Harlow went close when Alex Read saw his shot go over the bar, as the Hawks looked to increase their lead.
Tilbury did have attempts on goal, but the efforts were more speculative as they continued to look for an equaliser. Luke Stanley’s free kick went wide of the post, while Daniel Glozier’s drilled shot from outside the area flew over the bar. Just before the break Tilbury keeper Hawes saved bravely at the feet of Alex Read.
Soon after the re-start, Tilbury defender Danny Glozier was sent to the dressing room for allegedly wearing the wrong footwear and asked to change his boots that were permitted and whilst playing with 10 men, Harlow were awarded a harsh penalty, when an effort hit Conor Mead in the box. Alex Read finished off the penalty.
On the hour Alex Read should have scored when he shot across goal, before Lewis Jaggs saved the Dockers with a header off the line from Read.
Man of the match Alex Read tussled Danny Smith off the ball and hit towards goal, before Joe Nightingill recovered well to clear the ball, before it reached the goal.
Tilbury never gave up and Joe Nightingill was denied by a goal line clearance from Sonko as he went close.
With 10 minutes remaining Tilbury did get a well deserved goal, when Jack Carlile crossed from the left and Francis Babalola rose above 2 defenders to head past Hughes into the net. The assistant referee, did confuse the crowd as he raised his flag, which as for confirming the ball had gone over the line. Tilbury pushed hard with Kurt Smith weaving in and out and he caused mayhem in the Harlow defence and with 5 minutes remaining, was brought down in the box by Syrus Gordon giving the referee no option to point to the spot. Danny Glozier duly converted.
This however was not the last of the action packed game as the referee indicated 4 additional minutes following injuries. With the game 6 minutes into injury time, a corner from the left was punched out well by Hawes, but fell to the feet of Alex Read who crashed home to the delight of the crowd. Tilbury looked frustrated as they believed this was the last action, but the referee continued with the game for a further 2 minutes, with Tilbury earning 2 corners that saw 10 Tilbury players packing the penalty area. With the final kick Joe Nightingill headed a whisker wide from a Kurt Smith corner.
The result leaves Tilbury in 11th place with just 3 games to go. The Dockers are back in action on Saturday, when they welcome the leaders AFC Sudbury.

Assistant Manager Danny Smith commented after the game "After last Monday's poor display at Great Wakering, the lads did well and were marginally the better side over the 90 minutes and were unlucky to lose deep into injury time"
