Tilbury 4 v Witham Town 0 (Att 63)

Tilbury made light work of Witham Town which see's the Dockers now unbeaten in 15 league games, going back to early September.

Gary Henty's side went into the game unchanged from midweek and made early inroads, when Harry Cook lobbed home after a Kurt Smith through ball. Tilbury had two free kicks that only just went wide before a Danny Glozier through ball on 36 found Kurt Smith who got to the ball before the keeper to stab home into an empty net. The visitors picked up early in the second half to get themselves back in the game, but were denied by some good Tilbury defending. The game blew early up on 52 when Tilbury's Harry Cook was sent off and Witham's Lance Akins picking up his second yellow card.
The game opened up and on the hour leading goal scorer Tony Martin saw his volley on the edge of the area strike the bar, before going to safety. Tilbury made it 3 on 66 when Emiel Aiken was played in down the right, cut inside and curled his shot towards goal, keeper Lewis Down made a fine save, but Tony Martin was on hand to stab home.
Tilbury mad all there 3 substitutions, but the Dockers kept there momentum up and Emiel Aiken was again in the thick of the action has be played a ball through to defender Conor Mead on the edge of the area to fire home.
Late in the game both substitutes Ross Elsom and Neil Richmond had efforts to increase the scoreline but were denied by some good keeping.

Tilbury go into the Christmas break in 6th place, just one goal outside the play offs and on a good run of just one defeat in 20 matches.

After the game Manager Gary Henty commented “It was not the best performance by the lads, but to win 4-0 is very pleasing. The attitude of the players over this recent period has been first class. The support we have received from the terraces has been brilliant and thank them all.

The Dockers have a break until Boxing Day when they travel to Maldon and Tiptree with a 1pm kick off.
