Thurrock 3 -1 Tilbury Att 139
Tilbury suffered a disappointing defeat to local rivals Thurrock, who played over 60 minutes with 10 men
Tilbury made 2 changes from Saturday's win over Cheshunt, with Jimmy Cook and Francis Babalola replacing Bradley Webb and Harry Cook. The opening period was played in the midfield with the home side seeing a lot of the ball.
Despite some half chances for Thurrock, the first real action came on 24 minutes when the referee deemed a foul by Jordan Clark as serious foul play and sent the player off. The decision seemed very harsh.
Tilbury tried to take advantage and Madden had to save well soon after. On 41 Lewwis Spence was denied by a Bogard save, before Thurrock took the lead right on half time when Remi Sutton hit a super effort at goal, Bogard made an outstanding save, but the ball looped up to Ross Wall who out jumped two defenders to head home.
Tilbury came out after the break with some urgency, pushing high up the pitch. Kurt Smith crossed from the left and with the ball bouncing around the penalty area, the referee blew and pointed to the spot for handball against former Dockers skipper Aaron Waters. Kurt Smith scored from the spot to level the game.
On 57 Thurrock substitute Leslie Thompson went close but was denied again by Bogard. On the hour Ollie Hanlon hit just over from a shot from the edge of the area. Thurrock started to take control, and took the lead on 74 when Spence played the ball to Remi Sutton who smashed home from the edge of the area into the net. Tilbury chances at goal seemed to be limited as Thurrock continued to push forward. With 9 minutes remaining Thurrock confirmed the points when Cowley crossed from the left to Ross Wall who was in the box to tap in. Thompson again went close near the end but hit over.
The result sees Tilbury drop to 10th position in the league.
