Tilbury 1 0 Wroxham (Att 55)Tilbury started the new season with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Wroxham. It was a cagey opening from both sides, with lack of early chances.Wroxham who arrived at Chadfields late due to traffic, settled slowly, but it took under 19 minutes for the first attack on goal when Tilbury’s Harry Cook headed wide. The visitors had a half chance when Waters had an effort off target, before On loan keeper Clare Bogard saved from David Hinton, before Francis Babalola had the best chance for the Dockers soon after. Before the break Tilbury were indebted again to Bogard who kept the home side in the game with some fine saves.Tilbury come out after the break a stronger side and took the lead and scoring the only goal of the game on 61 when Tony Martin netted direct with a curling free kick, when Babalola was through, but the referee blew for the infringement. In the final minutes Jack Garrod had a close chance for Wroxham and Francis Babalola for the Dockers. The result gives the Dockers their 2nd successive opening day victory. After the game Manager Gary Henty commented "It was a very disappointing start to the game, but after a few changes at half time, I was pleased with the way the players reacted. It is always nice to pick up 3 points on the opening day of the season" Tilbury travel to Cray Wanderers on Tuesday night. 7.45pm kick off.Tilbury Team:Bogard, Mead, J Cook, Nightingill, D Smith, Aiken, Babalola, Carlile, H Cook (Austin 90), Martin (Edmunds 69) and K SmithSubs Unused: Pooley, Webb and Hanlon
