Re: R.I.P. Tilbury F.C. "LEGEND" Fred Ryder.
The 4-1 win over Walthamstowe Avenue was one of the big cup upsets of the time. A few years earlier 1953 they held Manchester United to a draw in the FA Cup at old Trafford 38,000 att. Previous to the 1961 Essex Senior Cup Final they had won it for three years. They won the FA Amateur Cup at Wembley in 1961, and they paraded the cup in front of there fans before the kick off of the 1961 Essex Senior cup final in front of a crowd close to 14,000. This must of upset the "DOCKERS" who then went on to beat them 4-1 after extra time. W.A.T.F.T.T.
