Waltham Abbey 2 Tilbury 2 (Attendance 74)

Tilbury shared the points with Waltham Abbey on Tuesday night in a highly entertaining game.

The home side started well which saw James Peagram have his 3rd minute deflected shot just go wide before Sargent seeing his shot from 6 yards go over.

On 18 Aldwinckle hit just wide from a Babalola cross and on 22 Tilbury had a great chance when a ball was floated in to Sam West whose free header was well saved by Matt Gill, but the resulting sliced clearance found Tom Wood who smashed over and wide from 5 yards. The opening goal came on 42 when Waltham Abbey took the lead. Another whipped ball by Tom Bruno found the head of James Peagram who flicked his header past Marrable.

Abbey started the second half strongly but both keepers had to make good saves to keep the score at 1-0. A shot by Tom Bruno was deflected, but saw a smart save from James Marrable and then Danny Aldwinckle was put through by Blackman for Tilbury but the number 9 could only force a good save from Matt Gill. The introduction of Harry Cook changed the game for the Dockers, as within seconds he fired at goal only to be denied by another good Gill save. Tilbury equalised on 64 when Aldwinckle got into the box and laid the ball to Cook who smashed home. Within a minute Babalola played in Cook who was a whisker a way from taking the lead. With 10 minutes remaining both sides had good efforts, Leeds hit just over before Sam West volleyed just over from 40 yards. With 6 minutes remaining Abbey went back in front when a corner went into the box and saw Christian Wheeler unmarked to power his header into the net. Matt Gill kept his side in the game with late saves from Babalola and Aldwinckle before a free kick was awarded to Tilbury 4 minutes into added time after a foul on Aldwinckle. With everyone expecting a shot into the corner, Ryan Blackman unleashed a strong shot that sent the keeper the wrong way and flew into the net to the delight of the Dockers. The final whistle went shortly after giving both sides a deserved point.

Tilbury welcome play off hopefuls Needham Market on Saturday with a 3.07pm kick off. The result moves the Dockers up one place to 16th place as they look to finish the season strongly.
