Match report Home v Dereham Town Via Mr Anthony Mercer
Tilbury 0 Dereham Town 0 (Attendance 40)
Tilbury picked up a well earned point against play off hopefuls Dereham Town on Tuesday night. With the number of home games recently, it came as no surprise that the match was played in front of the Dockers lowest gate of the season 40. Manager Paul Vaughan gave a debut to Emmanuel Folarin a new signing made earlier in the day. Despite a much improved performance of late, it was the visitors who looked the stronger side before the break. Ryan Hawkins hit from distance inside 3 minutes that saw a good save by Marrable. Tilbury's best chance of the half fell to defender Joe Nightingill who headed just wide from a Cutler corner. Goalmouth action was at a premium and before the break both side had just one chance, on 25 Babalola was through, but denied by a low save from Wilton and Craig Bussens having his deflected shot just wide of the post on half time.
Tilbury had the better of the second period with the introduction of substitute Danny Aldwinckle causing concern in the Dereham defence. Wilton had to be at his beast when Aldwinckle fired at goal and he made a fine save. On 81 Aldwinckle headed towards goal and the ball then fell to another substitute Oberseteller who saw his goal bound shot deflected for a corner. Dockers pressed in the last 5 minutes as they looked for the all important goal and a cross from Babalola saw Jack West stick his leg out but could not connect the ball home.
After the game manager Paul Vaughan said "It was a hard earned point and pleasing to get a clean sheet. The back 4 put in an excellent performance"
Tilbury now travel to improved Barkingside on Saturday as they move up one place in the league to 16th.
Tilbury: Marrable, Glasgow, Pooley, Nightingill, S West, Blackman, Folarin (Obersteller 70), J West, Wixon (Aldwinckle 72), Cutler, Babalola
Subs unused: Owen and Johnson
