Ware 0 Tilbury 0 (Attendance 72)
Tilbury came away from Ware with a clean sheet in a goalless draw. The game will be remembered for 2 late red cards for players who were not involved in the incident and some bizarre decisions. With both sides playing there 2nd game in 48 hours, the game started slowly. Mehmet had the first chance of the afternoon when he saw his looping shot just wide of an empty goal before the same player 3 minutes later heading towards goal from a corner. On 21 the game came to life with a late and nasty tackle by Karagul on Sam Cuter and amazingly no card of any kind was issued. The best chance of the game fell on 25 when Jamie Smith missed an easy chance when he blazed over. On 32 Tilbury's first real chance fell to Babalola who had his poke cleared off the line from a Waters corner. Babalola just before the break had his low shot well saved by Madden.
Tilbury were better after the break with Sam West hitting the base of the post on 67 as the game continued to be littered with fouls and little action. With 9 minutes remaining substitute Bashkal had his shot well saved onto the post by Marrable. With 5 to go Tilbury substitute Aldwinckle was out through and instead of shooting played it to Jack West whose effort was again well saved.
With the game drifting to a quiet end, Deep into injury time Ware player Karagul went through on Jake Pooley with his head and was only cautioned. With players coming into break up any melee, the referee who said he was unsighted and who had lost the control of the game, spoke to his assistant and bizarrely after consultation, sent Tilbury's Joe Christou and already substituted Ware striker Deniz Mehmet for violent conduct. The club will be looking into this incident with the FA as the Tilbury player in question who was sent off was not involved in the incident and that the assistant referee who confirmed it was the number 6 must have guessed a player.
After the match manager Paul Vaughan commented "A disappointing way to finish the game, but was pleased with a clean sheet" The result sees Tilbury drop 2 places to 16th. Tilbury welcome Chatham Town on Tuesday.
Tilbury: Marrable, Blackman, Waters (Owen 78), Pooley, S West, Christou, Babalola (Aldwinckle 70), J West, Wixon, Cutler (Johnson 63), Obersteller
