AFC Sudbury 1 Tilbury 0 (Attendance 305)

Ten Men Dockers Down to a Single Goal A much disciplined performance of late, but the Dockers still went down to a single James Baker goal early in the game. With the loss of Mitchell Gilbey who returned from his loan spell to local rivals East Thurrock, manager Paul Vaughan reshuffled his side, which included Joe Nightingill in midfield and Jake Pooley and Elliott Johnson returning to the side in defence. On a pitch that was extremely heavy and not good for passing football, it was a quiet opening. The game changed after only 8 minutes when Nightingill was adjudged to have jumped in on an opponent and saw the referee dish out a red card. This did not initially deter the Dockers as a good move between Cutler and Blackman saw them go close. The only goal of the game came on 13 when a very long throw from Cawley found a congested goalmouth and Baker latched on the quickest to fire home. On 20 Babalola had a good effort on front of goal before unleashing a miss hit shot wide. Spriggs for the home side should have scored a minute later from 6 yards as the home side pushed forward. Tilbury did have a let off on 30 when a mistake in the Tilbury defence by West saw Baker again hit home, only to see an Assistant referee's flag for the ball going out of play. Spriggs was again in the action on 35 when his effort was well blocked by Marrable. Just before the break Tilbury's best chance of the game fell to Sam Cutler after a good low ball from Wixon but as he went to shoot, he fell on the difficult surface. There were some good runs from Babalola early in the second period, Tilbury continued to push for an equaliser. Cutler again went close on 59 when Wixon again played in a good ball only to see his effort hit wide. Swatman almost increased the lead on the hour when he struck the post. With the conditions difficult the second half was a stop start affair. Late in the game Shinn's free kick was well saved by Marrable.
In the final 5 minutes, Tilbury did have a number of corners but could not make the breakthrough.

The result sees Tilbury lose there 3rd consecutive game and dropped to 16th. Manager Paul Vaughan said "I was pleased with the work rate from the team, especially after losing Joe to a harsh decision."
Tilbury are back in action on Tuesday when they welcome local rivals Thurrock for the first time this season.
